Wellington Genuine Progress Index(external link) (WR-GPI)

The Greater Wellington Regional Council has developed the Wellington Region Genuine Progress Index (GPI) to monitor progress in the Wellington region. The GPI measures the quality of life and wellbeing of residents in the region, as well as the condition of their environment and the economy.

OECD Better Life Index(external link)

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Better Life Index details quality of life information for countries around the world, including New Zealand.  You can search for information by country, by rank and by topic.

Canadian Index of Wellbeing(external link) (CIW)

The University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) has developed a Canadian Index of Wellbeing (CIW).  The CIW focuses identifying economic, social and environmental conditions and tracking their progress in relation to quality of life and wellbeing for Canadians.

Australian National Development Index(external link) (ANDI)

The Australian National Development Index is an incorporated member-owned initiative of leading community organisations, peak bodies, businesses, faith-based organisations, researchers, and independent, non-partisan grassroots citizens. Recognised and endorsed by the Australian Government, the group has developed a holistic measure of national progress and wellbeing that provides a snapshot of how Australians are doing as a people, as communities and as a nation.

Environmental Health Indicators NZ(external link)

The Centre for Public Health Research, Massey University carries out Monitoring New Zealand’s Environmental Health (MNZEH).  This includes conducting research into the effect of environment factors on the health of the animal and human populations.
