2017 Hamilton Halo Photo Competition

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

A. Image/s must have been taken in 2017 within approximately 20km of Hamilton, with Waikato Regional Council having sole discretion in determining whether an image satisfies the 20km approximation.

B. Image/s must be a minimum 1MB but no more than 8MB in file size.

C. The competition will open on Saturday 1 July 2017 and all images must be received by email to halo@waikatoregion.govt.nz by 11.59pm on Monday 31 July 2017.

D. All images entered into the competition may be used by Waikato Regional Council in a variety of different media to: a. promote the Hamilton Halo project; b. promote biodiversity in the Waikato region; c. promote any other work by Waikato Regional Council.

E. If photos are used by Waikato Regional Council the photographer will, where possible, be acknowledged.

F. The competition is not open to Waikato Regional Council employees or members of their immediate families.

G. Judging will take place at the Waikato Regional Council offices on or before Friday 7 August 2017 to identify the winning image and up to seven photos to go through to the People’s Choice competition.

H. Voting in the People’s Choice competition will be by way of the Hamilton Halo Facebook page. Voting will be open for one week (7 days) following completion of judging. Waikato Regional Council will notify via the Hamilton Halo Facebook page when voting for the People’s Choice competition opens. The winner of the People’s Choice competition will be the image which receives the most ‘likes’ on the Hamilton Halo Facebook page.

I. The winners will be notified by email. Where attempts to contact the winner fail (i.e. when the winner has not responded within five working days) the runner-up will be named the winner.

J. The winners must meet all of the terms and conditions in order to receive the prize. If they do not, the runner-up will be named the winner.

K. Waikato Regional Council reserves the right to request that the winners provide suitable proof that they took the image/s in 2017 within approximately 20km of Hamilton, with Waikato Regional Council having sole discretion in determining whether an image satisfies the 20km approximation. Suitable proof is at the sole discretion of Waikato Regional Council.

L. The winners will have their details published on the competition terms and conditions page on Waikato Regional Council’s website, and on the Hamilton Halo and Waikato Regional Council Facebook pages.

M. The winner of ‘Best overall image’ will win a Prezzy Card valued at $150, a one year family pass to Hamilton Zoo valued at $250, entry for a family to the Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari Southern Enclosure valued at $45, and the winning photo printed on canvas.

N. The winner of the ‘People’s choice’ image will win a Prezzy Card valued at $100 and the winning photo printed on canvas.

O. The prizes are not exchangeable for cash or transferable.

P. Only the person who originally entered the competition can be awarded the prize.

Q. In the event that any prize specified in the promotion becomes unavailable for any reason Waikato Regional Council may substitute it with a prize of like or equal value.

R. The prizes will be delivered to the winner’s address. Waikato Regional Council is not liable if the prize is lost or damaged in transit.

S. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to participate in any publicity arrangements that Waikato Regional Council may reasonably require in relation to this competition.

T. The winner takes the prize entirely at his/her own risk and indemnifies Waikato Regional Council from and against all losses, damages, costs, proceedings, actions, claims or demands that may occur in connection with the winner taking the prize. The winner is responsible for all insurance, tax or other costs that may be associated with the prize.

U. All expenses and other ancillary costs that are not specifically set out in these terms and conditions are not included and are solely the winners’ responsibility.
