The graphs below show people's levels of satisfaction with their environment in 1998, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2013 and 2016.

  • The most common score and the median (or middle score) were seven.
  • Consistent with past years, in 2016 most people (91 per cent) were moderately or highly satisfied with their environment.
  • In 2016, just 8 per cent of people were not satisfied with their environment, which is similar to past years although in 2006 it had risen to 11 per cent.  
  • The data are from surveys in 1998, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2013 and 2016.
